LEGO Mindstorms Education EV3
While this LEGO is slightly more expensive than the usual small figure set, it does the job in peaking children's interest in robotics.
This is a classic game that now has a educational twist. The creators of Sims and SimCity is now supporting S.T.E.M. with their Pollution Challenge that engages children from an environmental prospective. The price is based on a per user need which is how most software companies provide access to their platforms. View some options here.
Raspberry Pi: Micro Computing
I may sound like a broken record with this one, but the Rasberry Pi is still the best S.T.E.M. education tool. Of course there are other micro computing devices but for teaching purposes, we use the pi.
One of my favorite options because of the design and functionality which makes the price reasonable. This is a great tool for young electrical engineers.
In conclusion these tools and resources are not the end all be all for teaching your children S.T.E.M. but please be aware that in this fast pace world, its best to expose our children to things we prefer than not. So please take your time before purchasing.
